What is Sportsmetrics™?

Did you know that 1 OUT OF EVERY 100 high school female athletes will suffer a SERIOUS knee injury this year? Over a decade ago the Cincinnati Sports Medicine Research and Education Foundation recognized the need for testing and prevention programs to address this problem of higher risks for female athletes. As a result, the Sportsmetrics™ Program was developed.

Sportsmetrics™ is a six-week jump training program specifically designed to provide neuromuscular retraining, coordination, balance and strength training to the lower extremities to prepare the athlete to avoid or react immediately to an injury situation. The program is designed to meet three times per week on alternating days and is comprised of a dynamic warm-up, jump/plyometric drills, strength training and flexibility exercises. A pre and post drop-landing digital video analysis is also included with the program. This test serves as an important predictor of risk for non-contact knee injury for the athlete.

Through research studies, Sportsmetrics™ have been shown to increase the athlete’s vertical jump height, improve hamstring to quadriceps strength ratio and right-to-left leg power, improve vertical and horizontal deceleration mechanics, and perhaps MOST IMPORTANTLY, reduce the risk of serious knee injury.
